Our History
Nordent was founded in 1969 by three master craftsmen who aspired to build a company focused on serving their customers and employees. Henry Woll, Heinz Krause, and Peter Martin left their stable positions with another leading instrument manufacturer to build their own business.
From Nordent’s humble beginnings serving dental professionals in the mid-west, the company began to ship product nationwide as demand for the high quality products and customer focus spread to other regions in the country.

Long before ergonomics became a popular issue, Nordent recognized that by using a larger handle that allows for a better grip, clinicians would enjoy better adaptive control as well as experience reduced hand fatigue and extend their careers.
Nordent was the first instrument manufacturer to develop a series of hygiene instruments that combine the design characteristics of a scaler and a curette into one easier to use instrument. Using a Nordent Scalette will save time during the procedure, space on the tray and will reduce instrument replacement costs.
Continuing to innovate in ergonomics, Nordent introduces the lightest handle ever, the DuraLite Round.
Continuing to innovate, Nordent launches the Instrenew Sharpening Assistant. Dental offices across the country gain the ability to sharpen their instruments in-house with the confidence and precision normally only found with professional sharpening.
Nordent makes history with Relyant by offering the first hygiene instrument that includes free professional sharpening for the life of the instrument.
Our new and improved Gracey blades feature a true radius that conforms to the tooth anatomy better than any other brand. This means that TRUGracey curettes are easier to adapt, require fewer strokes, and reduce tissue trauma!
Using a proprietary steel technology that is harder than any other instrument in the world, Nordent launches it’s flagship XDURA line of Hygiene Instruments. Like the Relyant line of hygiene instruments, each XDURA purchased comes with free lifetime sharpening service.
Nordent launches the most streamlined and user friendly cassette on the market. Revolutionary Snap-In-Silicone™ Rails (patent pending) allow for efficient handling chair-side while doubling the instrument capacity as compared to a single sided cassette.
By popular demand, Nordent expands the line of instruments to include orthodontic pliers and cutters.
